The Observer photo by Kate Howes Practical picks: Kelly Rathje, owner of The Family Tree-DeWitt Dry Cleaning in downtown DeWitt, recently celebrated her 20th anniversary of business. Rathje is selective about what items she sells in her store, and wants to make sure her customers feel good about their purchases. Two of Rathje’s favorite parts of her job are putting together outfits and styling the store’s front window, which faces Sixth Avenue.

City delays decision on AmericInn hotel signs
Fearful of setting a precedent, the DeWitt City Council has delayed action on a request from the city's new hotel to put up directional signs for the business.

Management for the new AmericInn being built in DeWitt had asked for "wayfinding" signs on 11th Street, the familiar blue signs directing people to the hotel.
