Goose Lake lagoon dredging will be completed in spring

By Andy Leheney

Although in December Goose Lake council members anticipated the completion of the dredging of its two wastewater treatment lagoons, members learned at their Jan. 18 meeting that additional work remains.

Council was informed the dredging of the secondary lagoon is completed, but additional work remains at the primary lagoon, which is anticipated to be finished in the spring.

However, the later completion date will not impact the final cost of the project, which is estimated at $56,000.

Other business

In other business at its January meeting, council:

•Approved the monthly sheriff's report. The Clinton County Sheriff's Department provided 65.32 hours of direct service to Goose Lake between Nov. 26 and Dec. 25. Six calls were answered, four warnings issued and two incidents handled.

•Reviewed and discussed the state reflectivity requirements of city street signage.

•Mayor Christina Schneider announced the appointment of council member Jan Bormann as mayor pro-tem. Appointed to the city's park committee were Janeen Jensen, Troy Riley and Dwayne Schroeder. John S. Peavey was appointed as city attorney.

•Approved a design for a city banner, and authorized the purchase of five banners at an expected cost of $150 per banner.
