Memorials may be made to Westwing Place in DeWitt. Mrs. Denahey passed away Tuesday, April 11, 2017, at Westwing Place.

Marie M. Frahm was born May 12, 1909, in Eldridge, the daughter of Wilhelm and Bertha Meier Frahm. She was united in marriage to James A. Denahey on Sept. 26, 1933, in DeWitt. He preceded her in death Oct. 10, 1948. Marie was widowed at 39 with five young children at home. Her devotion to her family and her great Catholic faith sustained her during her long and beautiful lifetime.

Marie worked for Petersen-Harned-Von Maur for more than 20 years before she retired in 1976.

She was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and a former member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, where she participated in the Altar and Rosary Society.

She was very family oriented and cherished the time when they were around, especially loving on all the new babies. Marie loved to play cards, bingo, and bunco. She also enjoyed flowers and was a great cook.

Marie is survived by two daughters, Mary Ann Hahn of Grand Mound and Katherine (Frank) Doherty of Casselberry, Florida; 12 grandchildren, Mark Hahn, Steven (Lilia) Hahn, Gerald (Connie) Hahn, Todd (Lora) Hahn, Deb (Mark) Lowe, Jean (Eric) Miller, Laurie (Josh) Burghoffer, Lisa (Steve Johnson) Marshall, Laura (Sajid) Khan, John Denahey, Erin (Todd) Frisoni, and Patrick (Julie) Denahey; 21 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Joan Denahey; three sons, John Denahey, Gerald Denahey, and David Denahey; her parents; and nine siblings. May they rest in peace.

Marie's family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Westwing, Genesis Hospice, and the staff and residents at Spring Village in Davenport for all the loving care, support and friendships they shared.
