Berniece Katherine Pinter
Mrs. Berniece Katherine Pinter, 98, of Grand Mound, died Thursday afternoon, May 4, 2017, at Westwing Place in DeWitt.

She was born in Grand Mound to Laura Mae Andersen on July 10, 1918. Berniece married Clarence E. Pinter at Saints Philip and James Catholic Church in Grand Mound on Feb. 10, 1943. They farmed south of Grand Mound and south of DeWitt before moving to Grand Mound. The couple were very active in the Loyal Order of Moose and American Legion and did a lot of volunteering. Clarence preceded her in death July 30, 1979. 

Berniece was a longtime member of Saints Philip and James Catholic Church, Grand Mound. She loved her home, garden, and flowers, mowing her lawn, crocheting, crafts, and cooking. Berniece especially enjoyed all her friends and neighbors.

Surviving are a half-sister, Hilda Feddersen of Maquoketa; a special nephew and wife, Jim and Nora Pinter of Spokane, Washington, whom she dearly loved; other distant relatives, as well as special friends, the family of Ken and Helen Mosier and Kendra Casel, who provided her with much love, care and support throughout her later years.

Preceding her in death were her mother, Laura and stepfather, John Oldsen; three half-brothers, Johnny, Vernon and Raymond; and a half-sister, Mildred Oldsen.

Visitation was held Monday, May 8, at Saints Philip and James Catholic Church in Grand Mound. A funeral Mass followed, with the Rev. Fr. Francis Odoom officiating. Burial was at Calvary Cemetery in Grand Mound.
