David J. Clark
David J. Clark, 76, a resident of Fulton, Illinois, passed away Sunday, Aug. 6, 2017, at Genesis Medical Center, East Rusholme Campus, surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis.

A memorial Mass to celebrate Dave's life will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 8, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in DeWitt. The family will greet friends from 9 a.m. until the time of the Mass Tuesday at church. Keeping with Dave's wishes, cremation rites have been accorded.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.

Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

David John Clark was born May 17, 1941, in Dubuque, son of John E. and Goldie V. Brewster Clark. He met the love of his life, Mary Ann Roeder, in school in Charlotte, and they were united in marriage July 18, 1959, in Petersville. They have shared more than 58 years of marriage together.

Dave was a heavy equipment operator, working for many years at Determan Industries. He developed very close friendships during his working years but none closer than with his friends, Dave Williams and Dave Wilson. He also was employed as a certified plane mechanic and earned his pilot's license. Dave had a tremendous work ethic.

He had been a member of the Clinton Area Rod Club.

Dave had a great love affair with his bride, Mary Ann, and was deeply devoted to his children and grandchildren, even getting in a little trouble with his kids if they adhered to the "Don't tell your mother" policy. Dave would do anything for anybody at any time if you were in need or just asked.

He enjoyed wintering in Texas with Mary Ann, fishing, riding his motorcycles, and working on cars, even rebuilding a 1955 Ford pickup and a 1935 Chevy Coupe.

Dave is survived by his loving wife, Mary Ann of Fulton; three children and their spouses, John (Susie) Clark of Thompson Station, Tennessee, Joanne (Don) Salyars of Park View, and Jim (Lisa) Clark, Fulton; four grandchildren, Maggie (Keith) Sosebee of Franklin, Tennessee, Mitch (Sarah) Clark of Seabrook, Texas, T.J. (Natasha) Salyars of West New York, New Jersey, and Megan

Salyars of Cedar Falls; a great-grandson on the way in October; and a sister, Peggy Rohm of Davenport.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Online condolences and remembrances may be expressed to the family by visiting Dave's obituary at hmdfuneralhome.com
