Marilyn J. Kerens

Marilyn J. Kerens, 86, of Clinton, passed away Sunday, Oct. 29, 2017, at her home. Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Prince of Peace Parish. Visitation will be held Thursday, 4-7 p.m., at Pape Funeral Home, where a 5 p.m. Wa-Tan-Ye service will be held. Burial will be at St. Irenaeus Calvary Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Rick Rannfeldt, David Burken, Brian, Steve, and Danny Barr, and Jerry Kenney.

Marilyn was born Oct. 1, 1931, in Clinton, the daughter of James and Ethel Doyle Kenney. She graduated from Mount St. Clare High School in 1950. She married Robert Kerens on Sept. 21, 1950, in Clinton. He died in 1984. Marilyn worked for Ralston Purina for over 25 years.

She was a member of Prince of Peace Parish. She was a lifetime member of the Wa-Tan-Ye Club and volunteered at Prince of Peace Parish, Sisters of St. Francis, and the gift shop at Mercy North Medical Center for 11 years.

She enjoyed doing needlepoint, going to the casino, and bowling, was an avid Chicago Cubs fan, and loved her cats and hummingbirds.

Marilyn is survived by a sister, Margaret Burken of Clinton; two sisters-in-law, Jeanne Kenney of Belvidere, Illinois, and Jean Kerens of Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a sister, Ellen; and three brothers, James, Gerald, and Robert.
