Robert C. Loussaert

Robert C. Loussaert, 62, a resident of DeWitt, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2017, at University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City.

His family will gather to celebrate Bob's life from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3, at Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home, 614 Main St., downtown Davenport. Honoring his wishes, the rite of cremation will be accorded after the visitation, and private graveside services will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery in DeWitt.

Robert Charles Loussaert was born April 11, 1955, in DeWitt, the son Charles A. and Elizabeth J. Kaczinski Loussaert. Bob had been a truck driver for many years.

He was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church and O.O.I.D.A. (Owner Operator Independent Drivers Association).

He enjoyed fishing and collecting farm toys and trucks.

Memorials may be made to University of Iowa Palliative Care Unit.

Those left to honor his memory include seven siblings and their spouses, Susan (Randy) Denner of Eldridge, William Loussaert of Dubuque, Kathleen (Glen) Moeller of Long Grove, John (Tammy) Loussaert of Long Grove, Nancy (Jason) Suiter of Eldridge, Patrick (Michele) Loussaert of Spanish Fort, Alabama, and Lisa (Dean) Peer of Long Grove; his aunts and uncles, Virgen Thiel of Medford, Wisconsin, Patricia (Jack) Cahill of Delmar, Beverly (Ed) Peterman of DeWitt, Paul (Arlene) Kaczinski of North Liberty, Sandra McLeland of West Des Moines, Judith Tschudi of Harrisburg, Virginia, Kenneth (Lil) Kaczinski of Grand Mound, and Raphael Loussaert of Long Grove; close friends, Gene and Shirley Newell of Long Grove; as well as numerous loving nieces, nephews, and extended family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother, Steven Loussaert. May they rest in peace.
