Susan C. Beals, 55, of rural Preston died Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012, at her home.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
A memorial gathering will be held 2-5 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 17, at the Miller-Law-Jones Funeral Home, Preston.
Susan was born June 5, 1957, to Elmer and Jean Twait Stewart in Ottawa, Ill. She was raised and schooled in Marseilles, Ill.
Susan married Daniel W. Beals Dec. 25, 1983.
Susan worked in a sewing factory in Marseilles, for several years before she and her family moved to Preston in 1995. Then Susan stayed home and took care of her family.
She treasured the outdoors, especially gardening and caring for animals. Susan was certified to rehabilitate injured and abused animals in Iowa. She always fought for animal rights and was a member of P.E.T.A. Most of all, Susan loved spending time with her family and friends.
Surviving are her husband, Danny; a daughter, Jane (Jacob Sallie) Beals of Decatur, Ill.; a son, Charlie Beals of Maquoketa; a granddaughter; a brother, Rick Stewart of Ottawa, Ill.; a sister, Patty (David) Coleman of Rice Lake, Wis., and many nieces and nephews.
Susan was preceded in death by her parents.
A memorial fund has been established.
