Darlene J. Rothbart
Darlene J. Rothbart, 90, of Grand Mound, died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013, at Westwing Place, DeWitt.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, at SS Philip and James Catholic Church, Grand Mound. The Rev. Father William Kneemiller will officiate.

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Grand Mound.

A Rosary was said at 4 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4, followed by visitation until 7 p.m. at Schultz Funeral Home, Grand Mound.

She was born on New Year's Day, Jan. 1, 1923, to Camiel and Lillian Dierickx Minnaert near Victor. She graduated from the Ottumwa Heights Academy and received her teacher training at Mount St. Clare College, Clinton.

Darlene married Lowell D. Rothbart April 25, 1943, at St. James Catholic Church in Toronto. He died Nov. 26, 2004.

Darlene was a member of SS Philip and James Catholic Church, Grand Mound and was active in the community for over 50 years. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for 66 years. Since moving to Westwing Place, Darlene had been involved with various committees. She was best known as the family historian and keeper of the books.

Surviving are her children, Gail Votroubek of Davenport, Dean (Pam) Rothbart of Shorewood, Ill., Neil (Joy) Rothbart of Grand Mound, Kurt (Sharon) Rothbart of Lisbon and Jean (John) Lewis of Tucson, Ariz.; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Virginette Barnes of DeWitt and Yvonne Velde of Tucson.

Darlene also was preceded in death by a sister and two grandsons.

Memorials may be designated to SS Philip and James Catholic Church of Grand Mound and Westwing Place, DeWitt.
