Paul Edward Reimers
Paul Edward Reimers, 83, of Calamus died Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013, at Genesis-East Campus, Davenport.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, at the Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, with the Rev. Anthony Dodgers officiating.

Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery, Calamus, with military rites by Eugene McManus American Legion Post No. 238 of DeWitt. Pallbearers will be Paul and Justin Rowden, Blake Elias, Michael Jahn, Kevin Broadfoot and Dean Youngers.

Visitation was 4-6 p.m., Friday, Jan. 18, at the funeral home.

Paul was born to Edward and Blanche St. John Reimers Aug. 8, 1929, in rural Calamus. After graduation from high school, he served in the Army during the Korean War.

Paul married Madonna Jean Schrader Nov. 21, 1953, at the United Methodist Church in Calamus. She died June 8, 2007.

He worked for ALCOA Davenport Works until retirement in 1992.

Paul was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Calamus. He served as a board member for the Clinton County Solid Waste Agency and was chairman for 16 years. He was a city council member in Calamus and mayor of Calamus, with over 20 years combined city service.

Paul also was a board member of the Eastern Iowa Regional Housing Authority for 15 years.

He liked to hunt and also was an Indy and NASCAR racing fan.

Surviving are his daughters, Pamela (Jerry) Rowden of Columbia, Mo., Wanda (Brian) Elias of Calamus and Lori (Marty) Jahn of Charlotte; and six grandchildren.

Paul also was preceded in death by a daughter, three granddaughters and a sister.
