Northeast girls handle Comets, Mohawks

By Ross Eberhart
Sports editor

PRESTON - A triangular with Bellevue and Marquette Catholic represented a pair of happy returns for the Northeast girls golf team.

The Rebels returned to Plum River for the second meet on their new home course, and also welcomed back senior Megan Crockett for her season debut.

There proved to be no rust for Crockett, who parred three different holes to earn medalist honors with a 43.

Jacey House, meanwhile, tied for second with a 53 as the Rebels brought home the team victory with a 211 - 17 strokes better than the Comets and 45 ahead of the Mohawks.

House missed out on runner-up medalist honors because of a card-back, but the Rebels also picked up top-10 rounds from Christian Jacobsen (57) and Keidyne Machande (58) to finish off their first victory.

With all four of its scoring golfers shooting season-bests, the Northeast boys golf team posted its best score of the season.

The Rebels' 206, however, was not enough to catch the Comets. Marquette had just three golfers and did not post a team score.

Freshman Cole Lee parred three holes to lead the way with a sixth-place round of 47, while Ty Cain birdied the par-five first hole as part of a 48.

Senior Clint Lamar parred the eighth hole and shot a 53, while fellow senior Ethan Ruchotzke finished off Northeast's 206 with a 58.
